Entering 2022 With the Right Values

Just watched the 1954 movie Executive Suite. First, I love the old movies, great acting, no swearing, clean, and definitely engaging.

An excellent message in this story about a company whose CEO passes away unexpectedly and the infighting that follows.

One key person is a financial expert, keen on keeping operating costs to a minimum, maximizing profits, dividends and return on investments to shareholders.

These objectives fail to take into account keys to the long-term success of a business, be it a large or small company – the pride and enthusiasm of its people, its employees! – and the quality of its products and services.

Our team members need to feel good about their work and their company, that what they are doing is high quality, and that they are appreciated, valued, and heard.

Executive Suite is a fun watch and also inspirational for business leaders. Probably nothing we don’t already know, but it validates that quality matters greatly. And yes, financial success follows.

Writing this short article makes me want to share another message I heard from a business owner, Amber Parsons of Harwood Gold. While speaking with Amber this week, she mentioned how she so greatly values her team members and that she wants them to be thinkers as well as doers! Amber knows the best ideas are bottom up ideas which flow up.

Let’s make these principles top priorities as we begin 2022:

  • Happy team members do the best work
  • Quality comes first, financial success follows
  • Let our team members know they are appreciated
  • Encourage ideas
  • Inspire innovation

To a 2022 filled with our good will and gratitude.
